We’re in a bit of a strange limbo-zone this week in that we’re making great progress … but we’ve said everything we really can about our current tasks! Instead of retreading old ground, we’d rather put the full Dev Update on hold this week, and instead just give you quick glimpse of where we’re at.
As of right now, the event/dialogue system is ready for the alpha’s release! We are still tweaking the dialogue we want to include in the system. We’ve also squared away most of the small changes that we wanted to make for a smoother play experience. This includes the new spectrometer icons, camera modes, and various bug fixes. As stated previously, the major component left to conquer is the client/server system. A lot of this is already complete, and we are now moving more hands over to help finish it off. Once that’s done, we’ll go over one last sweep of making sure everything’s ready for the alpha, and then we’ll be ready for launch! That will be a major milestone for us, and we can’t wait for you to experience what we’ve put together so far (even if it is pretty bare-bones)!
Next week, we’ll be talking about our research into audience building and the challenges that come with that, but until then, we recently put out a fun bit of eye candy on Facebook that we thought we’d share here! Look for more in the near future! And, of course, we’re always adding fun things on Twitter, like this rover flipping GIF. I’ve also been informed that we’ll be posting a new surprise for our supporters on Twitter and Facebook later this week, and it’s even being kept secret from me! So, stay tuned!
That’s it for this week’s Dev Update! Sorry it’s so brief this week, but we’ll be back at it next Wednesday! Oh. Remember how I mentioned next week we’ll be discussing the challenges of audience building? We’re still waiting on our first website article comment! So, if you like these updates, be the first to let us know officially in the comments below! As always, be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook to get all the latest news on Gears of Eden! Until then, we hope you all have a wonderful rest of your week!
